When i get into development mode with some time on the hand as now - i have finished my last contract in february and start my new on on 1st of april - it's allways the same. I tend to get up when the sun goes down and hack throught the night. After a good breakfast it's time for bed. During my xaraya time my fellow hackers thought i would live in america and were puzzled when they learned i'm an german.
But there is currently one other thing that makes it mandatory to stay up through the night. The NBA and their damn crazy season. I'm intererested in basketball and especially the NBA since something about 1997.
I remember staying up late at night and cheering for Stockalone. But a guy named MJ wouldn't have it. My support for the 99/00 Trail Blazers ( Detlef Schrempf ) wasn't succesful either. I clearly remember sitting in front of my tv. Western Conference Finale Series agains the lakers tied at 3:3 . Trail Blazers up by ... don't know how many points, but it was a very comfortable lead. Last quarter. Clock ticks down, so does the trail blazers lead. I guess there were only 2-3 minutes to play - trail blazers with a narrow lead and too much time left - when an thunder storm killed my tv receiving. You know sat-tv. When the picture came back there was advertising and the game was over. BUT WHO WON? The next day i learned the trail blazer had lost.
In the recent years i'm naturally a mavericks fan. That isn't a walk in the park either ... Did i just hear someone mumbling dwyane wade ... but it's more fun than watching a soccer game. Not that i don't like soccer but i prefer to watch nba style basketball. There are soccer games that are fun to watch but they aren't many and you never know beforehand. Basketball is always nice to watch.
But this is definetely the best season i ever followed. 9 Teams separated only by 6 wins fighting for the playoff spots. The Spurs were on 1st place one week ago and now are on six. If they keep their current trend it would be possible for the reigning champion to miss the playoffs. I know that won't happen but one has some dreams.
So i'm staying up late and watch the western team fight for the playoffs in a intensity that is normally only reached in the playoffs. Really good basketball. Go and see yourself.
